Welcome! I'm so glad you have taken the first steps to increase your self-awareness, ease emotional pain and develop methods to live more comfortably in your body, mind and spirit. As a lover of the arts, and a believer in having a sense of humor in life, I bring both my life experiences and my professional training to my work as a licensed marriage and family therapist and art therapist. I love what I do and I enjoy introducing those who come to me for help, new ways of thinking and developing a more loving and kinder way of relating to themselves. May you find peace in all you do.

Psychotherapy and The Art of Knowing Oneself

Someone asked me once, do you ever really know who you are? Now we are getting existential. We all have to develop a sense of Who we are based on our self-esteem, values, beliefs, etc. So, as starters, I can help you look at some of these tough questions along with building a strong sense of self. My speciality is working with women, but I do see men too. There is nothing harder than trying to live your life with depression and or anxiety. They are tough. I can help you learn tools to manage both.  I incorporate art therapy techniques as well as I traditional "talk" therapy to help clients manage sabotaging thoughts and behaviors. This typically includes cognitive behavioral therapy, which means exploring how our thoughts affect our feelings.  I have found that when we begin to look at and manage our thoughts, we begin to feel better. A pattern of thinking usually begins when we are very young, such as, "I'm not good enough," or "I'm not loveable," etc. These types of thoughts are called "core beliefs," and are the lens we look at ourselves with and the world. I encourage clients to keep a journal to be aware of their thought patterns.

The practice of  creative work becomes a mirror to our internal world helping us gain wisdom, peace, healing and solutions to problems.  Whether it is perfectionism, anxiety, depression, physical pain or other obstacles to feeling whole and more relaxed and accepting of yourself, art allows you space to feel safe and free to explore your authentic self. Many times, answers and wisdom come to us while we are calm and in a relaxed state...here is where the wisdom resides!

Lastly, if you are a woman lacking motivation, or living with a chronic illness or wanting to feel happier and more content in your life, I might just be the creative guide and/or therapist you are looking for.  I offer in person, group and workshop sessions. Many challenges can get in the way of getting to an office appointment therefore, traditional in office sessions are not always an option. There is nothing worse than being in emotional pain, wanting support and guidance, but not having the energy or time to make it across town. Having choices is what women need today.
